The Cantiague PTA is dedicated in its goal to foster a nurturing and collaborative community. This is why we strive for involvement and input from all our Cantiague families. There is no better way to stay up-to-date with important decisions and changes in school, to network with other parents, and to participate in supporting our children’s school experience than by joining the PTA! Whether you have 30 minutes or a few hours, your ideas, time, and skills are much appreciated.
PTA fundraising efforts and events raise funds which benefit the school in a variety of ways. The PTA funds author visits, worthwhile assemblies, and technology and enrichment where there is a need. During the Pandemic, we were busy planning alternative activities and enrichment to provide the same amazing experience for the children whether they are learning at school or remote. We were focused not on what we can’t do that year due to the pandemic, but on what new and creative things we CAN do! Now times are getting back to “normal” and we are excited to bring back in person events and opportunities to be involved in the classrooms and at school.
Annual events include:
Welcome Back Picnic- Our Annual school wide picnic is held the last week of September to welcome back all of our Cantiague families. Food is provided by the PTA and a DJ keeps everyone dancing. Children play together on the playgrounds and families reconnect with other families. It’s a great way to kick off another amazing year at Cantiague and a truly special evening for all!
Fall Festival - a fun Halloween celebration in the school on a Saturday in October, includes a pumpkin decorating contest, new carnival games, and more- all outside on the Cantiague fields. This is a definite must come event.
Book Fairs - We partner with Scholastic to brings new books to the school and students. We hope our families take the opportunity to shop and share the joy of reading with their loved ones. Proceeds from every book purchased goes towards buying new books for our Cantiague library and individual classrooms.
Picnic Around the World-a special evening that highlights our community’s cultural diversity through sharing and celebrating cultures and customs through food, music, and performances.
PARP week- Pick-a-Reading-Partner week encourages children to explore new books and nurture a love to read through fun activities. A special assembly caps off the week. Each day of the week there will be a new fun activity!
Family Valentine’s Day Dance - Come celebrate with your family or a special person at our Valentine’s Day dance
Game/BINGO Night – we invite all families to enjoy this special game night together. Raffle tickets are available to purchase prior to the event and come and win several ruffle baskets. Good Luck!
Author visits and worthwhile assemblies
We invite you to join the PTA for your child because increasing our membership, even by one, makes it possible to provide important educational resources, speak up on important issues and create a stronger school community.
The only thing required of you to be a member of PTA is to pay the annual dues. These dues support our work to strengthen connections between your family, your child’s classmates and their families, and teachers to build a thriving and inclusive community for everyone. Beyond that, your level of involvement is up to you. Membership in PTA can involve as much or as little time as you have to offer. There is no wrong or right way to be involved-anything you can give, whether it’s time or money, will support your child’s potential.
The cost of a membership financially supports not only the Cantiague PTA but New York State PTA and the National PTA. The PTA is active at all these levels, impacting decisions affecting your child’s health, safety, and quality of education. Did you know that during the past 120 years, PTA’s national advocacy efforts have helped establish universal kindergarten, the National School Lunch Program, the juvenile justice system, and anti-child labor laws?

Teacher Appreciation Week and Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Throughout the year the Cantiague PTA plans ways to show our sincere appreciation to the faculty and staff who devote so much time and energy to the education and well being of the children. Two special times are during Teacher Appreciation Week and at the annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon. Each day our teachers will be treated to a surprise in the Staff Lounge for Teacher Appreciation Week. We then invite all teachers and staff to a wonderful luncheon catered by food trucks where they can enjoy a special meal on us. If you would like to make a monetary donation to this event, please send in cash or check (made payable to “Cantiague PTA”) in an envelope marked “Staff Luncheon donation.” If you prefer to donate with a credit card, you can do so using the button below. Fundraising
Ice Cream Fundraiser is Back!
For a $25 donation per child, each child will get to choose one of several frozen treats at lunchtime. Frozen treats will be offered once a month, on designated days, during the school year at lunchtime. (Starting in September and every month except June)
**You can decide to donate and have your child start to participate at any time of the year. Please complete payment by 8am the morning of the monthly Ice Cream day so they can get on the list for that day. Sorry, no makeups for missed days will be given. Thank you for supporting the Cantiague PTA!
